Those who know us are aware of our accident in 1999. The woman who ran the stop sign and hit us had little insurance. My surgery, hospitalization, and rehabilitation was about $250,000. Afterwards, during my recovery period, we were unable to continue our kennel operations as we had before. It appeared we would have to discontinue breeding our Labs and we started placing our youngsters. Trudy and Russ Slean of Florida became aware of what was happening and resolved to keep us in Labradors. With the help of Dr. Bill Miller, they formed LabMedSearch Foundation. They initiated two fundraisers which were augmented by a very special lady in Connecticut. These fundraisers provided sufficient funds to enable us continue breeding our Labradors. We truly love breeding Labs and are very selective in choosing homes for those we don't keep. We have tried to always place them in loving, nurturing home with families we personally liked. Our efforts have apparently been successful. Our Lab owners tend to stay in touch and rise to the occasion when called upon. Our recent donation of an adult Lab to the family of a victim of the Trade Center Tragedy was a great example. Our "Family" held an impromptu fundraiser. We managed to ship the Lab, provide a kennel, install a fencing system, finish her training, and send the family a check for $1750. Mary Anne and I feel surrounded by your love, support, and encouragement. Thank you. Chuck and Mary Anne Roland _____________________________________________________________________________________ We would like to extend recognition to the following organizations and individuals who assisted us in making this WTC Family project a reality. Delta Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, our Delta Connection Rick Hutson, our local ASA manager not only helped us obtain free shipping, he made it a media event and saw that our Lab received VIP treatment throughout. Thanks Rick, it was great. The Iams Corporation Donated 160 lbs of Eukanuba. Invisible Fence Inc. - Corporate Website Ron and Kathy Leh, perimeter fence. Welcome to Invisible Fence Lehigh Valley's Website Their local distributor. Taylor Fence Company, Howell, NJ Donated a high quality kennel. Michael Morano Mike is a very special member of our "Family." It seems anytime we need a special project, Mike is there and ready to assist. In this case, Mike received the dog, kept her at his home for tune up housebreaking and training, took her for visits with the family, and generally made everything work smoothly. In addition, Mike provided toys, leash and collar, food, etc. to give "Star" and the Stahlman's a good start. He continues to monitor the Lab and family in case they need assistance. Thanks, buddy, we appreciate you. _________________________________________________________________________ The following "Family" members sent cash or checks to help out.
